Hi all! Team Gold is proud to announce that we’re hosting voter registration drives at the Lussier Food Pantry every Saturday, from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM from now until the November 6th election (except for September 1st). We’re also doing the same at the monthly Lussier Community Education Center’s (LCEC) Community Meals. Check out our calendar for exact dates, times, and location
We’ll be adding more opportunities soon, so be on the lookout for those as well.
There are great opportunities to shadow an experienced voter education ambassador if you want to get involved registering voters. Email us at email@example.com if you’re interested!
If you are interested in additional training beyond that, the League of Women Voters of Dane County and the Dane County Voter ID Coalition will offer Everything You Wanted to Know about Helping Voters but were Afraid to Ask on July 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Goodman Library, 2222 S. Park Street. I have heard wonderful reviews of this training. To attend, sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/helpvoters-July18
Hello! We’re making some website changes, mainly to use the blog more than updating our static home page for our event postings. We’re hoping this makes it easier to keep track of what we’re doing. If you have any suggestions, pleas emails us at firstname.lastname@example.org
October 3, 2017 the Supreme Court of the United States will hear a challenge to Wisconsin’s 2011 redrawing (gerrymandering) of our State Legislative districts. As a result, in the 2012 election the Republican won a super majority in the state assembly while losing the popular vote. Gerrymandering is an egregious abuse of power violating the constitutional right of equal protection and free expression.
Here are some thoughts from one of our canvassers from our September canvas!
Canvass data: We had a very successful canvass. The unofficial data that I collected from our canvassers (Canvass Tally Sheets) is:
255 doors knocked. We didn’t meet our 350 goal, but that’s OK; READ ON!
0 flake rate (no shows) AWESOME!
29% contact rate VERY HIGH
For me personally, it was one of the most POSITIVE canvasses I have done since the 2012 campaign. I did my immediate Elderberry neighborhood. EVEN got into an inaccessible condo building and no one questioned me. I had a 34% contact rate with lots of interest. People were engaging, wanted to talk and agreed it was important to be involved. Everyone appreciated our handout with my name, website (I hand wrote) and e-mail address. My plan is to follow up early Oct. with an informal info/ dessert gathering inviting those I talked to. If any of you know of any neighbors or have contacts of people that are interested I encourage you to invite them as well once I/we fine tune the details. Stay tuned.
