Canvassing is the ❤️ of our work because it works
We knock on doors and talk to our neighbors about voting because we know it gets people to the polls. Since Madison is a dependable Democratic stronghold, it’s critical we turn out every single possible vote here! Currently our canvasses are focused on Bridge Building, which means we’re talking with voters we have little or no information about in order to identify the issues they care about and find Democrats we want to be sure get to the polls in the November election. Races are often won (or lost) in Wisconsin by 2-3 votes PER DISTRICT statewide. Our volunteers can make up that difference right here in our Team Gold territory!
Training and support are always provided so no experience is necessary! If you feel better going with a buddy, bring someone along or we’ll do our best to pair you up with another canvasser. Let us know ahead of time and we will pair a new canvasser with someone with experience.
Unable to Canvass? Here are Other Volunteer Opportunities
Talk with voters by calling them. We much prefer to talk with voters face-to-face. Sometimes we just can’t do that because they live in locked apartment buildings. To talk with these voters, we are hosting a rolling phone bank. You attend a training session on Zoom, agree to make a minimum number of calls each week, and talk with voters by phone. Once you are up and running, this program enables you to create a calling schedule that works for you while making a difference.
Recruit volunteers to canvass or phone bank. In order to talk with as many voters in our neighborhoods as possible, we need volunteers to canvass and phone bank with us. We are always in need of more volunteers so we engage in various activities to recruit them. Calling prospective volunteers is one of those ways. As with the phoning to talk with voters in apartments, calling prospective volunteers can be done on a flexible schedule once you go through the training and agree to make a minimum number of calls each week.
